Vegan picnic guidelines
We hope you enjoy your picnic with the Vegan Society. These
picnics are for you to share your company and your food with
others in a beautiful location. Bring a vegan dish to share.
All welcome: Vegan, Vegetarian or just curious! Membership not
required. A great chance to relax, have fun, enjoy yummy food and
meet new friends.
Picnics are generally held every month.
See the
events page for details of
upcoming picnics.
What to bring:
- A vegan dish to generously share between 4-6 people.
If there are two of you, please double the serving size or
bring two different dishes.
- A vegan diet is one free from any animal products.
Meat, fish, dairy (milk, cheese, butter) eggs, honey and
gelatine are excluded from a vegan diet.
- If you are stuck for ideas on what to bring please see some
suggestions below.
Please also bring:
- Serving dish and utensils for your dish
- Plate, napkin, and cutlery for yourself
- Water (and a cup / glass if desired)
- A mat or blanket to sit on
- Hat and sunscreen
- An ingredients label. Please provide a quick list of ingredients,
either on a sticky label, or on a small piece of paper and provide
with your dish. Please clearly mark any dishes containing gluten or
nuts. (Gluten is present in wheat, rye, spelt, barley and some
additives). In addition to helping all of us make informed food
choices, such a list is a great tool to stimulate conversation
about wonderful food.
General Guidelines
- Please be sure that all fruits and vegetables have been
properly washed and are ready to eat.
- Please ensure that any cooked or prepared food is
properly refrigerated prior to the picnic.
- Out of respect to the group, please do not bring
non-vegan food or drinks to the picnic.
- When serving yourself at the picnic, your serving
size should be in proportion to the number of the people present.
